About
Our center, an alliance between the 501c3 non-profit Caribbean stranding
network and the Inter American University of Puerto Rico focuses on manatee
conservation through four actions: rescue and stranding response; rehabilitation and
veterinary care; population research; and community outreach. We also tend to sea
turtles and marine birds that are found sick, ill, or injured on our island.
What we’ll do and where we’ll be:
You will become a manatee caretaker at our rehabilitation center for 2.5 hours.
During your visit, You’ll be in our marine laboratory, where we conduct our daily
duties from the preparation of their food in our kitchen, and our vet care area where
we tend to all types of animals from small birds to adult sea turtles. You will
experience the daily work of our staff, assist in the preparation of the diet for our
patients, and assist in its delivery. Group size up to 6 guests.
