Around 1,500 athletes — both local and international, attend the competition. The half marathon has been held in the town of Coamo since 1965 and has been showcased in ESPN's "Road Race of the Month." San Blas has become a cultural experience not only for the runners but also for the nearly 250,00 spectators that gather along the race route.
